During the New Year holidays, the Ara-Köl reservoir, also known as Lake Ara-Kul, becomes a popular destination for vacationers in the Kochkor district of the Naryn region. Every year, hundreds of people come here to enjoy winter activities. This body of water is located near the village of Ara-Köl in the Cholpon region. Its ice cover spans approximately 20 hectares, and daily, between 300 to 400 people relax here. In winter, the lake completely freezes, with ice thickness reaching 70-80 centimeters.
For the convenience of visitors, local organizers offer various services, including hot tea and the rental of skates and sleds. In anticipation of the holidays, employees of the Kochkor district state administration, tax service, emergency situations department, and internal affairs conducted an inspection of the reservoir area.
During the visit, representatives of the services met with vacationers, provided safety briefings on the ice, and discussed measures to prevent possible accidents. Questions regarding the necessary conditions for the development of winter tourism in the region were also raised.
Organizers were advised to strictly follow the instructions of the district services. Performers from the Kochkor district cultural house and the Cholpon club entertained the vacationers. It is important to note that the internal affairs department took control of the ice area and prohibited vehicle movement on the ice.
