At the "flea market" in the Chuy region, near Jayil, a Soviet firefighter's helmet attracted the attention of numerous buyers.

The seller, named Alexander, reported that this helmet was found during the dismantling of an old shed and is now offered for 2,000 soms.

"Perhaps it will be useful to someone," he added.

Historian and local historian Maxim Podgorny spoke about the origin and purpose of this helmet:

"This is a traditional firefighter's helmet model from 1950. It was used by Soviet firefighters during firefighting and rescue operations near open sources of fire.

The helmet provided reliable head protection. Its 'crest' was designed to absorb impacts that could occur from falling parts of buildings. The chin strap securely fixed the helmet on the head. The front part is adorned with a relief cockade, which is the original emblem of the fire departments of the USSR. These helmets were usually painted in green or protective colors. In 1973, lightweight and durable helmets made of polycarbonate began to be produced in the Soviet Union, replacing the steel ones."

He also noted that nowadays helmets made of durable synthetic materials are used.
