The incident occurred on January 5, 2026, around 11:00 PM, when officers from the tourist-ecological police of the Issyk-Kul regional internal affairs department, together with representatives from the territorial fishery management, were conducting a night patrol of the lake's waters.
The detained individual turned out to be a 48-year-old resident of the village of Balbay in the Tyup district named A. T., who was fishing using Chinese synthetic nets at the mouth of his village. During the inspection, 6 synthetic nets and illegally caught fish were confiscated from him: 23 sigs, 5 breams, and 1 crucian carp.
Information about this incident has been registered in the electronic log of the Tyup district internal affairs department, and additional checks are currently being conducted.
The case materials have also been forwarded to the municipal internal affairs department of the city of Balakchy, where investigative actions have begun and are ongoing at this time.
