According to the city leader, he does not view the capital as his own property and always prioritizes the interests of the state. However, he expressed doubt that this issue is on the agenda of the country's leadership.
“First and foremost, we need to think about the development of the state. If in the future there arises a necessity to make such a decision, it may be made. I cannot say that these rumors have affected me greatly, but I have contemplated what this could mean for the country and what consequences it might entail. At the moment, I believe that this issue has not been discussed at the leadership level,” the mayor noted.
It is worth recalling that in September 2025, the city of Jalal-Abad was renamed Manas. After that, the topic of potentially granting this city the status of a city of republican significance was raised, which could place it on par with Bishkek and Osh. Against the backdrop of these changes, rumors began to circulate in society about a potential relocation of the capital to Manas.
The head of the State National Security Committee, Kamchybek Tashiev, commenting on these rumors, stated that “time will tell.”
