Roza Aitmatova, the sister of the famous writer Chingiz Aitmatov, has appealed to government authorities with a request not to organize celebrations for the centenary of his birth. She suggested redirecting the budget funds allocated for the celebration to improve the living conditions of citizens. This appeal was published by the news agency "Kabar".

According to Roza Aitmatova, there is a possibility that society will begin to discuss the appropriateness of spending on the anniversary of the classic. She expressed confidence that many would say, "The funds allocated for Aitmatov's 100th anniversary could be used more effectively." In this regard, she strongly urged the authorities to direct these resources to help ordinary people, which, according to her, would be a true tribute to the memory of the writer.

Roza also noted that it has been 17 years since Chingiz Aitmatov passed away, yet his name continues to provoke debates and criticism in society. She called for not tarnishing the memory of the late writer, emphasizing that he should neither be glorified nor belittled.

“May he rest in peace,” she added in her appeal.

Recently, there was a public outcry following an interview with the former head of the Financial Police, Syimyk Zhapikeev, with journalist Ernist Kyazov, where he expressed a critical opinion about Chingiz Aitmatov's works, describing them as "mediocre" and "cheap." These statements sparked heated discussions on social media and in the press.
