A video has surfaced on social media capturing the moment a wolf was hit by a car in the Alaykuu Valley, located in the Osh region.

This information was confirmed by Jenishbek Bekhtashov, a game specialist from the Osh regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic for the Kara-Kulja district.

He noted that this video has sparked active discussions in society. The incident occurred on January 23, 2026.

“The footage shows hunters from the Kara-Kulja district who had all the necessary permits. Recently, the number of wolves in the Alaykuu Valley has increased, prompting local residents to seek help from hunters. As a result, a hunt was organized,” he said.

According to established rules, hunters operate within a specific season. The season for hunting partridges and hares ended the day before, lasting until January 25. A new season dedicated to wolf hunting began on January 26. Hunters with permits have the right to legally shoot wolves and use weapons and traps.

The state has also provided monetary rewards to reduce the number of predators. The ministry pays bonuses to hunters who successfully catch wolves and jackals. Specifically, a reward of 6,000 soms is allocated for a captured wolf, and 2,000 soms for a jackal,” he added.
