Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto noted, "We hope that the Indonesian diaspora can contribute to the country's development." According to him, while Indonesia recognizes only one citizenship, many people want to reside in the country for an extended period.
The "Indonesian Global Citizenship" (GCI) program was first introduced in November. Applications can be submitted by holders of foreign passports who were previously Indonesian citizens, as well as their children and grandchildren.
To participate in the program, applicants must provide proof of an annual income of at least $15,000 or a monthly income of $1,500. An "immigration guarantee" is also required. For specialists invited for work, a relevant invitation is sufficient. Other categories of applicants must invest at least $5,000 in Indonesian securities, open deposits in local banks, or purchase real estate worth at least $1 million.
It is important to note that foreigners are prohibited from acquiring land and houses in Indonesia, but they can own property through lease agreements, as stated in the published materials.
