Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Zhanibek Abirov found himself in the spotlight after an unsuccessful interview with a journalist from UTRK, where he failed to correctly explain the meanings of road signs. A video recording of his responses quickly spread on social media, provoking heated discussions.
For example, he incorrectly interpreted the sign "Yield to Oncoming Traffic" as "two-way traffic," and confused the "Main Road" sign with the "Stop" sign. He also explained the "No Entry" sign with the phrase "someone has the main road." Deputy Talaybek Masabirov, who, according to him, has been driving since 1983, also struggled with correct answers and did not recognize the "No Parking" sign.
Abirov's name has appeared in scandalous news before. In March 2023, a video surfaced online showing him in a conflict with a restaurant security guard, where he used physical force, causing a significant public outcry.
Residents of the Lenin district of Bishkek, whose interests Abirov represents, have repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction with his work. Previously, citizens had contacted the editorial office with complaints about the poor condition of the roads in their area, emphasizing that the deputy does not participate in solving the problems of the local population.
Local residents expressed their discontent: "Does he even exist or not? We voted for him, but he doesn't even try to defend our rights. Why doesn't he drive through our streets and see how people live?"
