The Border Service has been separated into an independent body, and a State Guard has been established, reporting directly to the president.
President Sadyr Japarov signed a decree to withdraw the Border Service from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).
The new head of the Border Service is Abdikarym Alimbaev.
Alisher Erbaev, previously a deputy of the 7th convocation of the Jogorku Kenesh from the "Butun Kyrgyzstan" party, has been appointed as the deputy chairman of the GKNB and director of the Anti-Terrorism Center.
Uranbek Shadybekov has been appointed as the deputy head of the GKNB and director of the Coordination Center for Cybersecurity.
A State Guard Service has also been established, formed on the basis of the 9th service of the GKNB, and will be under the direct authority of the president.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to align its decisions with the new presidential decrees.
