Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov, who turned 55, was born on September 22, 1970, in the Naryn region. On February 10, President Sadyr Japarov appointed him as the acting head of the GKNB, and today his candidacy was presented for approval to the relevant committee.
He began his career in the national security agencies, working as an operational officer. According to veterans of the special services, he has a specialized education in intelligence, as well as a higher economic education obtained from the Faculty of Economics of KGNU.
In 2005, Shabdanbekov moved to the 9th service, which then functioned as the State Guard Service, where he headed the Department of Information and Analytical Work, which was engaged in collecting and analyzing operational information to prevent terrorist threats to state facilities and high-ranking officials.
Since October 2020, he has held the position of Deputy Chairman of the GKNB and simultaneously led the 9th service, responsible for the protection of the president, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, the chairpersons of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts, as well as former presidents and strategic state facilities.
Since 2021, he has accompanied the president on all foreign trips.
In 2022, he was awarded the rank of Major General.
