Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov was born on September 22, 1970, and he is currently 55 years old. He is a native of the Naryn region.
He began his career in national security agencies as an operational officer. According to veterans of the special services, he has specialized education in the field of intelligence, as well as a higher economic education obtained at the Kyrgyz State National University in the Faculty of Economics.
In 2005, he was transferred to the 9th service, which then functioned as the State Protection Service, where he headed the department of information and analytical work. This unit was responsible for collecting and analyzing information to prevent terrorist and extremist threats against high-ranking officials and strategically important facilities.
Since October 2020, Shabdanbekov has been serving as the deputy chairman of the GKNB while simultaneously heading the 9th service, which is responsible for the protection of the president, the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, the chairpersons of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts, the prime minister, as well as former presidents and key state facilities.
After the events of 2021, he accompanied the president on most foreign trips.
In 2022, he was awarded the military rank of Major General.
