Shairbek Tashiev: Only 24 thousand voters can revoke my mandate

In an interview with "Azattyk," Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Shairbek Tashiev commented on rumors on social media about the possibility of his voluntary resignation from the deputy mandate and spoke about the change in parliamentary leadership.

He emphasized that he does not intend to give up his powers under pressure from public opinion or political statements.

According to the parliamentarian, he was elected by the citizens, and he is accountable only to them. "I have 24,300 voters. Only they can tell me: 'Resign your mandate.' If these people express distrust and sign a corresponding statement, I am ready to consider this issue. But I will not leave at someone else's demand," noted Shairbek Tashiev.

He added that he came to parliament to protect the interests of his voters.

"I am here to serve my people. Only they have the right to evaluate my work," the deputy added.

Regarding the resignation of the previous speaker, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Tashiev noted that this decision was unexpected for him. He tried to contact the former chairman to find out the reasons for his departure.

"I called him, wanted to know why he made such a decision, since the deputies elected him. However, he did not respond," Shairbek Tashiev reported.

Nevertheless, the parliamentarian noted that he remains calm about the situation and hopes that the new speaker will be able to successfully fulfill his duties.

"These are experienced people. I am confident that the parliament will continue to operate as usual," he concluded.
