The mayor emphasized the significance of launching this plant as an important step in addressing environmental issues. In addition to waste recycling, the city plans to significantly increase the volume of greening: in 2026, it is planned to plant 50,000 trees, which is three times the previous figures. Currently, seedlings are already arriving in Bishkek, where they are undergoing adaptation in nurseries to improve their survival rate.
During the discussion, participants focused on pressing issues such as smog and high air dust levels. The mayor noted that the Environmental Council remains open to criticism and suggestions, and all expressed ideas will be forwarded to the relevant structures for further action. The event was organized in collaboration with the Bishkek city administration and the Development Policy Institute.
It is worth noting that the presented plant is the first eco-technological facility of its kind in Central Asia. The project was implemented by the Chinese company JunXin with investments amounting to 95 million dollars. The plant operates on the principle of "energy from waste" and can process up to 1,200 tons of garbage per day, producing about 30 MW of electricity. The high-temperature incineration technology used allows for the disposal of long-standing waste in landfills, which for decades has caused toxic smoke and instances of spontaneous combustion. At the same time, the modern purification system ensures that there are no harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
