Russian border guards will no longer guard the Armenian-Turkish border
According to the latest news, Russian border guards have been withdrawn from the checkpoint "Akhurik," located on the border between Armenia and Turkey. Control over this area is now carried out by the Border Troops of the National Security Service of Armenia, which previously managed this zone.

The report on the implementation of the Armenian government's program for 2025 informs that since March 1 of last year, the "Margara" checkpoint on the Armenian-Turkish border has been serviced exclusively by the military personnel of Armenia's national security. In turn, starting from the beginning of 2026, the same status will be assigned to the "Akhurik" checkpoint.

It is emphasized that at the moment, all active border checkpoints on the state border of Armenia are under the full control of the country's National Security Service.
