Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliyev stated that Kyrgyzstan does not intend to succumb to the influence of the European Union on trade and strategic partnership issues. According to him, the country is not ready to take directives from major geopolitical players.
He emphasized that the priority remains strategic partnership with Russia, despite potential sanction risks.
“First of all, we are an independent country and do not depend on anyone. No threats or pressure measures can stop us. We have our own national interests and a clear development strategy for the republic. We will follow the chosen path,” noted Mamataliyev.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan behaves as a responsible participant in the international community.
“We adhere to international laws and act in accordance with the UN Charter. We follow international norms, and it would be incorrect to accuse us of anything,” added the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh.
Moreover, he noted that the role of parliamentary diplomacy in relations with Russia is increasing, which aligns with the foreign policy course set by President Sadyr Japarov.
