As part of the reforms being implemented in law enforcement agencies, it is planned to reconsider the attitude towards journalists, civil activists, and businessmen. This was announced by the president's press secretary, Askhat Alagozov, in an interview with "Azattyk."

He noted that law enforcement agencies will be called upon to apply measures not related to arrest and to conduct preventive work, as long as it does not contradict current legislation.

"It is important to emphasize that this does not mean complete immunity from responsibility. Each decision made will be based on specific circumstances and legislative norms," he added.

Recently, several journalists and media organizations in Kyrgyzstan sent an appeal to President Sadyr Japarov, the head of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov, and the chairman of the Supreme Court, Mederbek Satyiev.

In their appeal, they pointed out the increase in cases against journalists and activists initiated under the article "Mass Riots" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. They also expressed hope that recent personnel changes in the security agencies could contribute to a more fair assessment of such cases.

The appeal also raised the issue that restrictions on certain media outlets, criminal cases against individual journalists, and cases of forced departure from the country raise serious concerns in society.

Sadyr Japarov has repeatedly emphasized that there is freedom of speech and democratic principles in Kyrgyzstan. In an interview with the news agency "Kabar," he noted that citizens can freely express their opinions on various issues and openly criticize the authorities.

After the resignation of former GKNB head Kamchybek Tashiev, a number of entrepreneurs stated that they had previously experienced pressure from the special services.
