Sadyr Japarov: Division is not allowed, reforms will continue

President Sadyr Japarov, in an interview with KNAI "Kabar", discussed the current public sentiments following the resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev from the post of head of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB).

Various opinions are actively discussed in society, including concerns that disagreements between Japarov and Tashiev could lead to a division of the country into north and south.

Japarov emphasized that he would never allow a division between the north and south: "Politicians often use such divisions for their own interests, manipulating public opinion," he added. The president recalled how in 2005, when he began his political career, he observed how the authorities divided the country along regional lines: "It was bitter to see." He promised himself that if he became president, he would try to eliminate this problem.

Since he took office in 2021, as he noted, such divisions have gradually begun to disappear. For example, there has been a complete rotation of akims and judges, which, according to him, has contributed to reducing the level of division in society. Currently, there are no akims from the south in the south, and vice versa—all appointed officials represent other regions.

“If we continue this practice, we can eradicate the problem of inequality that breeds corruption and ineffective resource distribution,” Japarov added. He also noted that it is necessary to address housing issues, as many heads of ayil okmotu are involved in distributing resources among their relatives.

The president spoke about the establishment of the "Akyiman" school, opened two to three years ago, where talented children from all regions of the country are educated. He hopes that such initiatives, including the construction of new schools, will help break down barriers between the north and south. Plans are in place to create 7-8 such schools across the country.

According to Japarov, with graduates from these schools, who will also have the opportunity to enter public service, he hopes that the new generation will work for the benefit of the country without dividing it into regions.

In addition, the president mentioned plans to build student dormitories in regional centers, which will begin after the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. Starting in 2026, according to his vision, students will rotate, studying in various regions of the country, which he believes will help overcome traditional divisions.

“We will work to ensure that in 20-30 years, the problem of division between the north and south disappears,” Japarov assured, urging citizens not to pay attention to political disagreements.

The president also commented on the situation in the Jogorku Kenesh, where internal conflicts continue.

“Politicians use the people as a tool to achieve their goals,” he noted, emphasizing that such actions do not benefit ordinary citizens.

Japarov added that he is not aware of any cases in the last 30 years where relatives of politicians suffered from unrest. “One should not perceive all the words of politicians as a tragedy,” he said, promising to continue the fight against the division between the north and south.

The president also spoke about his visit to Batken, where a local resident expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of ministers from this region. To this, Japarov replied that appointing a local minister would not solve the problem and suggested treating everyone equally.

Japarov assured that new facilities are being built in Batken and investments are being attracted. He noted existing shortcomings but emphasized that work will continue.

Regarding relations with Kamchybek Tashiev, Japarov confirmed that they remain friends, although Tashiev will not return to public service.

The president expressed hope that Tashiev would be able to focus on his health and commented that current disagreements should not affect their friendship.

Japarov also clarified the situation with the resignations of ministers, emphasizing that no one was forced to leave their positions, but audits will be conducted. He stated that nepotism and corruption must be avoided at all levels of government.

The president assured that the fight against organized crime and corruption will continue and that Kyrgyzstan has become less susceptible to such threats since 2020.

“We must learn from the mistakes of the past,” he added, emphasizing that there are no conditions for a coup in the country.

Japarov assured that the work to combat corruption will not stop and will continue at all levels.

In conclusion, he confirmed that he had met with Tashiev and wished him health and peace.
