The Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy plans to introduce a state social order for newspapers that have transitioned to self-financing. This was announced by Marat Tagaev, the Deputy Minister, at a meeting of the parliamentary committee.

Deputy Saltanat Abdildaeva noted that regional newspapers that have started self-financing are in a difficult situation. She emphasized that she is receiving requests from employees whose income barely reaches 5,000 soms.

Saltanat Abdildaeva proposed conducting a study on the state of local media and reviewing the working conditions of their employees.

Marat Tagaev added that two years ago, local publications were transitioned to self-financing as a result of a special analysis. “Given their current situation, we decided to introduce a state social order. If the newspapers have good projects, we are ready to provide them with assistance,” he noted.

The Cabinet has created a new association, the "Information-Publishing House 'Kyrgyz Tuusu'"
Tagaev also reminded about the government's establishment of the state institution "Information-Publishing House 'Kyrgyz Tuusu'," which was formed by merging the publishing houses "Kyrgyz Tuusu" and "Slovo Kyrgyzstana," as well as the editorial offices of the magazines "Baichchekey" and "Ala-Too." According to him, all expenses and salaries of the employees of this association are fully covered by the state.

In conclusion, he added that a salary increase for cultural workers is expected in April, which will also affect the increase in payments for journalists of this institution.

It is worth noting that in 2024, the government transitioned the editorial offices of 12 regional newspapers to self-financing.
