Almazbek Akmatov, the head of the Accounts Chamber, noted that the proposed amendments involve reducing the number of auditors from nine to three. He assured that this would not affect the efficiency of the institution's work, as the main functions are performed by inspectors, while auditors carry out oversight.
Of the three auditors, one will be appointed from the Jogorku Kenesh from among candidates proposed by the president, while two will be elected by parliament.Akmatov added that his five-year term ends on April 16, but some auditors will retire in one to two years.
