Uzbek meteorologists refute rumors about the approach of acid clouds

Uzhydromet stated that such claims have no scientific basis. Specialists explained that acid rain occurs due to a chemical reaction between water vapor and sulfur and nitrogen oxides, which are mainly formed in industrial areas and near pollution sources.

When polluted air is transported over long distances, the concentration of harmful substances decreases due to atmospheric turbulence and deposition processes. Thus, the formation of acid rain thousands of kilometers away from the source is impossible.

The formation of precipitation is associated with local cloud formation processes, where rain arises from water vapor and aerosols present over a specific area.

Based on meteorological data and air quality monitoring in Uzbekistan, there is no observed threat of "acid clouds" being transported to the territory of the country or neighboring states.

Uzhydromet urged media representatives and social media users to avoid spreading false information and to rely on official sources.

It is worth noting that powerful explosions and fires occurred at oil facilities in Tehran following attacks on infrastructure, leading to the formation of thick black smoke clouds. Some residents of the area reported unusual precipitation known as "black rain," caused by combustion products.
