Almambet Shykmatov, head of the State Tax Service, commented on March 17 about information regarding possible corruption schemes allegedly involving former head of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) Kamchybek Tashiev and his associates. He shared this in an interview with "Azattyk".
When Shykmatov was asked why the State Tax Service did not conduct checks while Tashiev was in office, he replied:
“Let’s not be deceitful: 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' was under the full control of the GKNB. You know that some of our tax inspectors became victims of the GKNB and are currently in detention. It was impossible to check 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' under those conditions. Now, however, we have the opportunity to conduct an investigation. We could either hide this or inform the public. We chose the latter path,” he noted.
On March 16, the Tax Service published a video investigation titled "Oil for Themselves: How 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' Was Ruined?", which notes that actions contrary to the interests of the state were identified during the extraction and sale of oil by the company 'Kyrgyzneftegaz'. The description of the video states that relatives and close associates of Kamchybek Tashiev are involved in the corruption schemes in this area.
Recall that on February 10, President Sadyr Japarov relieved Tashiev of his duties as Deputy Prime Minister and head of the State National Security Committee.
