At a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with constitutional legislation, local governance, and regulations, Deputy Kamila Talieva raised the issue of the insufficient number of women in high positions within government bodies. She noted that despite the adoption of a law limiting the share of one gender to 70%, this norm is not being observed.

According to Talieva, among the 22 members of the government, only one woman holds a position, and among the 76 deputy ministers, the number of women is 17. The situation is not better in the regions: women are virtually absent in regional structures, and there are none among the akims. Meanwhile, among the deputy akims, only 28 out of 79 are women, which is about 35%.

The deputy emphasized that this is the minimum gender quota, while the majority of women work in areas related to social issues. She also reminded that previously, the positions of deputy prime ministers for social issues were held by women, but these positions have been abolished. In the country, out of 48 deputy mayors, only 10 are women, which is approximately 20%.
