A citizen of Kyrgyzstan wanted for fuel theft has been detained in the USA




A citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, identified as Y.M., born in 1979, was detained in Illinois, according to information provided by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

The detention was made possible through the joint efforts of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Since 2023, Y.M. had been on the international wanted list through Interpol, as a "red notice" was issued against him for a crime under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, related to large-scale fraud.

Acting in collusion with A.Ch., who held a high position in a company dealing with the sale of petroleum products, Y.M. committed theft, resulting in the embezzlement of 1,536.51 tons of fuel oil worth 51,780,387 soms.

Currently, the competent authorities of Kyrgyzstan are working on the issue of extraditing the detainee for prosecution.

Additionally, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan reported that there are currently 8 citizens in HSI (ICE) detention centers wanted for various crimes and undergoing deportation procedures. Of these, three have already been returned to Kyrgyzstan.
