A tragic incident occurred in Minneapolis when ICE agents shot a woman who had stopped her car in front of their pickup truck. According to Meduza, the situation quickly escalated into protests.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security claims that ICE officers were conducting "targeted operations" in the city when a group of protesters blocked their actions. The agency states that the woman used her vehicle as a weapon, attempting to run over the officers, which forced one officer to open fire in self-defense.

Kristen Neumann, the Secretary of Homeland Security, also commented on the incident. She stated that ICE agents were stuck in the snow and were trying to push their pickup truck when they were attacked by a group of "provocateurs." According to Neumann, the woman did not respond to their requests to leave the vehicle and then attempted to run over one of the officers. The Secretary characterized this as an "act of domestic terrorism" and announced that the FBI would begin an investigation. She also confirmed that one of the officers was struck by the vehicle and was taken to the hospital, but was soon released.

According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, the deceased woman was 37-year-old Rene Nicole McLean Good, a native of Colorado who had recently moved to Minnesota. She was the mother of three children, including a six-year-old son who became an orphan after his father's death in 2023. Rene's ex-husband reported that before the incident, she dropped her son off at school and was heading home with her partner.

On social media, Rene Good presented herself as a "poet, writer, wife, and mother"; her Instagram profile featured an emoji with a rainbow flag. Her ex-husband described her as a "devout Christian," noting that she was not an activist and did not participate in protests, having spent the last few years as a homemaker.

After the tragedy, videos from the scene taken by witnesses appeared online. They show two officers exiting the ICE pickup and approaching a Honda Pilot that was blocking the road. One of them demands that the door be opened and then attempts to open it. At that moment, a third person appears, who opens fire as the vehicle begins to move, firing at least two shots while bouncing off the car.

CNN, analyzing footage from different angles, noted that the officer who shot the woman was initially positioned behind her vehicle. One video shows the vehicle making contact with the officer before the first shot is fired. He manages to step aside, and subsequent shots are fired from the other side of the car. The Associated Press adds that it is unclear whether there was contact between the vehicle and the officer before the filming began.

Donald Trump, commenting on the incident, stated that he watched the footage and believes the woman was acting "aggressively," trying to obstruct ICE's actions and, in his opinion, deliberately ran over the officer, who he claims acted in self-defense. The President added that the situation is "being studied in full," and he attributes such incidents to threats from "radical leftists" against ICE personnel.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey sharply criticized ICE, stating, "Get the hell out of Minneapolis." He added that the agency's personnel do not ensure safety, but rather bear responsibility for the death of a person.

Just two days before the tragedy, the Trump administration announced plans to send about two thousand ICE agents to Minnesota as part of new measures to combat illegal immigration.

According to the Associated Press, the shooting occurred in an area located south of downtown Minneapolis, less than two kilometers from where police killed George Floyd in 2020. Following Rene Good's death, city residents took to the streets in protests, demanding that ICE personnel leave Minneapolis. In the evening, hundreds of people gathered for a memorial ceremony in her honor.
