He is accused of organizing "mass riots"
On February 13 of this year, the Pervomaisky District Court of Bishkek sentenced 41-year-old Ernist Zheentaev to six years in prison. This information was reported by Azattyk, citing lawyer Nurbek Sydykov.
Zheentaev was detained on November 10, 2025, due to his posts on Facebook.
A criminal case was opened against him under part 3 of article 278 "mass riots" and article 332 "storage of extremist materials" of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
A forensic linguistic examination conducted on his publications confirmed the presence of calls for mass riots.
Zheentaev is currently in the capital's detention center.
The lawyer plans to appeal the court's decision in the city court after receiving it.
It is known that Ernist Zheentaev worked for a long time in independent newspapers in Bishkek as a designer-layout artist.
