A police officer has been detained in the Talas region, suspected of fraud involving a foreign investor from Turkey. This was reported by the State National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic (GKNB).
According to the agency, in April 2025, the operative officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, E.M.A., having gained the trust of Turkish citizen H.K., received 35,500 US dollars from him. The police officer proposed a joint business venture for growing valuable plants of the nightshade family with subsequent export to Turkey. It is known that the cost of one kilogram of seeds reaches 3,000 US dollars.
After receiving the money, the GKNB claims that the police officer illegally took possession of these funds.
In October 2025, H.K. filed a complaint with the Ministry of Internal Affairs regarding the fraud. However, according to the GKNB, a decision was made to refuse to open a criminal case without the necessary investigations.
On January 27, 2026, the Turkish citizen again appealed to the GKNB, after which the materials of the case were sent to the investigative authorities.
On February 24, 2026, the suspect was detained in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Kyrgyz Republic and placed in the temporary detention facility of the Talas city police department.
The GKNB emphasized that work continues to protect the rights of investors and to hold accountable officials who violate the rights of entrepreneurs.
