According to information from the Department of Internal Affairs, on February 19, 2026, a woman, I.I., born in 1992, approached the Ak-Su District Department of Internal Affairs. In her statement, she reported that her common-law husband, J.K., born in 1979, insulted her, humiliated her dignity, and used physical force while in a state of alcohol intoxication.
The statement was registered in the electronic log of the Ak-Su District Department of Internal Affairs, after which a preliminary investigation was initiated. During this investigation, the applicant clarified that they registered their civil marriage in November 2024, and since then, instances of insults had recurred. She had not previously contacted law enforcement agencies.
To determine the presence of bodily injuries, a forensic medical examination was appointed, which classified the injuries as minor and resulted in a temporary health disorder.
On February 25, 2026, a letter was sent to the company where J.K. works, recommending that measures be taken. In addition, a protection order was issued to the applicant by the Ak-Su District Department of Internal Affairs.
As a result of the investigation, the investigative authorities refused to initiate a criminal case; however, since there were signs of an offense, the materials were forwarded to the competent authorities for further consideration.
Currently, after I.I. published information about domestic violence on the internet, there has been public misunderstanding. In this regard, the Ak-Su District Prosecutor's Office canceled the previous decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case, and additional investigative actions have begun. A repeated forensic medical examination has been appointed, and investigative activities are ongoing.
