Azamat Maripov, convicted on charges of "Mass Rioting" and "Public Calls for Violent Seizure of Power," has been released on probation for a period of three years. This information was provided by the press service of the Supreme Court.

In October 2022, the activist was found guilty on the aforementioned charges and sentenced to six years in prison by the First May District Court of Bishkek.

Maripov, who actively uses Facebook, was detained a year ago. He regularly criticized the head of the president's office, Kanaybek Tumanbaev. The latter claimed that Maripov had asked him for $13,000 for a wedding, after which he allegedly began to blackmail him along with a group of people.

It is worth noting that in April 2024, Azamat Maripov was already detained in another case. The Internal Affairs Department of the Lenin District reported the detention of six men suspected of beating and illegally holding a resident of the capital.

Azamat is the brother of Kudret Taychabarov, the former head of the Tourism Development Fund, who is currently under arrest on suspicion of connections with organized crime groups (Article "Creation of an Organized Group or Participation in It").
