In Osh, 68,000 soms in fines were imposed on poachers during the New Year holidays.

During these festive days, NABU Kyrgyzstan employees, in cooperation with environmental government agencies, conducted a series of raids. As a result of the inspections, citizens who violated hunting regulations were identified, and they were fined a total of 68,000 soms.

The initial raids took place in the Kara-Suu and Aravan districts of the Osh region. In the Kumboz ayil district of Papan, officials discovered that three citizens were illegally keeping 7 saiga birds in a cage. Each violator was fined 10,000 soms, bringing the total fines to 30,000 soms. Since the birds were in satisfactory condition, they were released back into the wild.

Each received a fine of 1,000 soms, totaling 3,000 soms. Additionally, in the Kapchigay area of the Alaï district, one citizen was caught trapping three chukars using traps, and he was fined 10,000 soms, along with a damage claim of 6,000 soms.

Also during the raid in the Uzgen district on the Jazy River, a citizen was detained for violating amateur fishing rules and was fined 1,000 soms. On the same river, another citizen was found using a prohibited tool—a "screen" made of synthetic netting, for which the fine amounted to 5,500 soms.

Thus, the total amount of fines for violations of hunting regulations and illegal hunting amounted to 68,000 soms.

These raids were organized for the protection of nature and were conducted jointly with representatives of the Osh regional office of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, as well as the department for the protection of natural territories and biodiversity.
