On the Bishkek—Osh highway, a fuel truck carrying heavy oil overturned, leading to a fuel spill into the Naryn River. Eyewitnesses reported this to a Turmush correspondent.

According to them, the accident occurred today, January 14, at approximately 10:00 on the bridge in the village of Kırpsay. As a result of the incident, traffic on the highway was temporarily halted for more than an hour.

At the moment, the road is open for one-way traffic; vehicles can pass through the section where the heavy oil spill occurred.

According to available information, the heavy truck carrying fuel and lubricants was traveling from Bishkek to Osh when the driver lost control and overturned on the bridge.



The Department of Road Safety of the Jalal-Abad Regional Internal Affairs Directorate reported that the information regarding the amount of heavy oil that entered the Naryn River is currently being clarified.

According to Durusbek Zalimbekov, head of the Jalal-Abad Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, ecologists have been dispatched to the scene to collect water samples and assess potential damage. Administrative protocols will be drawn up, and fines will be imposed on those responsible.

It should be noted that water from the Naryn River is used for drinking purposes and irrigation by residents of Tash-Kumyr, Shamalda-Saya, and the rural district of Üch-Korgon in the Aksy region.
