As noted by the Department of Internal Affairs, this decision was a result of the spread of videos on social media that documented instances of threats and violence involving firearms.

In addition, the weapons of three owners of registered traumatic pistols were temporarily seized due to violations of storage rules and re-registration. The seized pistols were transferred for safekeeping to the local department of internal affairs.
The police also reminded that officers continue to conduct explanatory work with the population aimed at preventing crimes and accidents related to firearms. Citizens who voluntarily surrender illegally stored weapons are not subject to criminal liability.
