Throughout the first quarter of 2023, from January 1 to April 1, law enforcement officers in Bishkek are conducting a preventive operation called "Arsenal." According to the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the capital, this event is aimed at ensuring the safety of the population and combating crimes related to the illegal circulation of weapons.
The main task of the operation is to identify and suppress cases of illegal storage, carrying, and sale of firearms, traumatic weapons, and cold weapons, as well as ammunition. An important aspect of the work is monitoring compliance by citizens with legislation in the field of weapon circulation and preventing offenses related to its use.
As part of the operation, various inspections and raids are conducted to identify potential locations for illegal weapon storage, as well as explanatory talks with the population and monitoring of registered weapon owners.
During the operation, 17 units of weapons have already been seized, and appropriate measures are being taken against violators of the law.
Internal affairs officials emphasize that efforts to implement the operation continue, aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and guests of the capital.
Law enforcement agencies have also urged the population to strictly adhere to the laws. In the case of voluntarily surrendering illegally stored weapons and ammunition, citizens may avoid liability in accordance with current legislation. Information about instances of illegal weapon circulation is requested to be reported to the nearest police stations or by calling 102.
