Sovetbek Asekov, a resident of the village of Korumdu in the Tyup district, along with his son, opened a fish farm.

About a year ago, they began developing this new venture, using a pond with an area of 2 hectares for fish farming.

By profession, Sovetbek is a driver, and he shared that he realized his long-standing dream in tandem with his son.

“I am 59 years old. In our family, we raised three children — two daughters and a son. I was born in Korumdu, finished school, and became a driver. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, I got involved in agriculture. The dream of a fish farm with my son Aibek has been with us for many years. In 2025, we officially registered a land plot of 3 hectares and started our activities in the pond,” he recounts.

Currently, they are raising four types of fish. Aibek, Sovetbek's son, noted that working in the fish farm requires constant attention and daily labor.

“I am 29 years old, and I am a welder by profession. Five years ago, I went to Russia for work. The money we earned was invested by my father and me into our joint venture — the fish farm. We invested over a million soms in the construction of the pond, and we brought carp, silver carp, and Amur catfish fry from a fish farm in the Chuy region. They adapt excellently to our climate at any time of the year. A fry weighing about 25 grams can grow to 1-1.5 kilograms by autumn. Monitoring the water temperature and the health of the fish is extremely important, as this process requires care and effort. Our goal is to provide local residents with fresh fish and prevent poaching. In the future, if domestic tourism increases, we want to create a small recreation area and a place for dining,” added Aibek Sovetbekov.
