At the "Rod Laver" arena, Alcaraz faced Djokovic and, after losing the first set, managed to win in four sets. This triumph marked an important milestone in the career of the young Spaniard, who at the age of 22 years and 272 days became the youngest tennis player to achieve a career "Grand Slam," winning titles at all four Grand Slam tournaments.
Thus, Alcaraz broke the records of tennis legends such as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, who reached this achievement much later. Additionally, he set a new record previously held by Don Budge in 1938.
The title won in Melbourne was Alcaraz's first at the Australian Open and added to his victories at the "Roland Garros," Wimbledon, and the US Open. He is now the only tennis player in history to have won seven Grand Slam titles before turning 23.
Speaking about the possibility of achieving a calendar "Grand Slam," Alcaraz noted that he does not intend to rush and will focus on the next important tournament — the French Open, where he is already a two-time champion.
After the match, Djokovic remarked that he is impressed by Alcaraz's progress, his physical and psychological maturity, as well as his constant drive for self-improvement. According to the Serb, achieving a career "Grand Slam" already emphasizes Alcaraz's status as one of the greatest players in the history of tennis.
