At the Transylvania Open tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Emma Raducanu, representing Great Britain, lost to Romanian Sorana Cîrstea with a crushing score of 0:6, 2:6. This was her first WTA final since her triumph at the US Open in 2021.
After a series of five matches in a week, Raducanu faced serious physical difficulties. At the beginning of the second set, she required medical assistance, during which doctors measured her blood pressure. Throughout the match, it was evident that she was experiencing fatigue. The duration of the match was only 63 minutes.
Sorana Cîrstea, 35 years old, confidently controlled the game, leaving no chances for her opponent and winning the tournament with the support of home fans, without losing a single set.
Despite the setback, Raducanu will rise to 25th place in the world rankings. In the near future, she will participate in the WTA 1000 tournament in Doha, where she will face Camila Osorio in the first round.
