Funding for sports in Kyrgyzstan has increased to 2.6 billion soms per year

At the meeting of the board of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov noted that government funding for sports continues to grow. In 2020, approximately 800 million soms were allocated from the budget, and by 2025 this amount will reach nearly 2.6 billion soms. This underscores the growing trust in the sports sector and our responsibility towards athletes.

He also added that the establishment of a specialized agency, separated from the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy, has allowed for better resource management and improved governance in the sports field.

At the board meeting, priority tasks for the agency were identified, including the development of mass sports, modernization of sports infrastructure, support for women's sports, and the opening of school sports sections.

Edil Baisalov emphasized the preparation for the XXXIV Summer Olympic Games and the XVIII Summer Paralympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles. He instructed to conduct an analysis of shortcomings and ensure proper preparation of the national team for these significant events.
