FIFA President Confirms Safety of the 2026 World Cup in Mexico

At a press conference held in Colombia, FIFA President Gianni Infantino assured that he is "completely confident" in Mexico and its local authorities' ability to ensure safety during the World Cup matches. This statement comes against the backdrop of recent unrest in the state of Jalisco. Four matches of the final stage are planned to be held in Guadalajara, as well as two playoff games next month. By that time, a major renovation of the famous "Azteca" stadium will also be completed.

Infantino noted: "We have absolute trust in Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum, and the local authorities. Everything will be organized at the highest level." Ramon Jesurun, head of the Colombian Football Federation, also expressed his pride in hosting matches in Mexico and emphasized the immense interest this event generates on the international stage.
