The main goal of this visit is to strengthen international cooperation in addressing the issues of desertification, land degradation, and drought. Yasmin Fouad intends to discuss preparations for the upcoming conference and to draw attention to the necessity of involving all stakeholders in the relevant efforts. During her stay in Mongolia, she will hold a series of meetings with high-profile government representatives, ambassadors, staff of international organizations, development partners, the private sector, scientists, and civil society activists, as well as youth and children's organizations.
These discussions will focus on expanding cooperation and actively engaging all interested parties in the fight against desertification.
Yasmin Fouad, appointed as the Executive Secretary of the UNCCD on May 22, 2025, previously served as the Minister of Environment in the Arab Republic of Egypt from 2018 to 2025.
