In the solar astronomy laboratory of the Institute of Space Research (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it was reported that 16 flares occurred on the Sun on Tuesday. Of these, four belong to class C, 11 to class M, and one flare reached the highest level X. This information was provided to RIA Novosti.
“Flares on the Sun on February 3, 2026: the total number of flares of class C and above amounted to 16. Of these, four flares were class C, 11 class M, and one class X,” the laboratory's message on the IKI RAS website stated.
Additionally, researchers noted that the active region on the Sun increased its area by 50% over the course of a day, which also led to a new record for the number of strong flares (M + X) in a single day.
