Camel passports introduced in Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, the introduction of passports for camels has been announced as part of a strategy to manage this important cultural and economic resource more effectively. This was reported by Kazinform.

The Minister of Environment, Water Resources, and Agriculture of the Kingdom noted that this measure will enhance control over property rights, as well as improve efficiency and productivity in this area by creating a reliable centralized database.

The passport will contain information about the camel, including its breed, owner, and vaccination history. This document will be necessary for the sale and transportation of the animals, ensuring the protection of owners' rights and simplifying the process of their identification.

According to Gulf News, in 2024, the number of camels in the Kingdom, which are a symbol of its cultural heritage, will be around 2.2 million. The country hosts the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival annually, which is a large-scale sports and cultural event attracting thousands of participants.
