As part of this festival titled "Тэмээн дээрээс наран ойрхон" ("From the Camel, the Sun is Closer"), attention will be focused on promoting the Mongolian Bactrian camel, its economic potential, and the development of the tourism sector, integrating it with sports events involving camels. The goal of the festival is also to preserve and disseminate the culture of camel husbandry.
The festival program includes various types of competitions, including camel racing among four age groups, archery from a camel's saddle, camel polo, a contest for collecting camel bones, and camel training. Additionally, the most attractive "rider-camel" pairs and the best representatives of the breed will be determined.
A camel husbandry product exhibition will also be organized, where visitors can see milk, dairy products, wool, leather goods, and cultural heritage items related to the breeding of Mongolian Bactrians.
The conference held as part of the festival includes sessions dedicated to key issues, among which are:
- Strategies and measures for the preservation and development of camel husbandry culture;
- The impact of climate change and desertification processes, as well as government policy in this area;
- The development of tourism based on camel husbandry traditions.
The event is organized by the Presidential Administration, the Dundgovi Aimag Administration, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, the Camel Breeding and Racing Association, and the Camel Polo and Tourism Association.
For reference, the previous winter festival took place in Dundgovi in 2025 under the name "Camel of the Great Gobi – 2025".
According to data from 2024, there were 480,000 camels in the country, and by the end of 2025, this number had increased to 501,000.
