On Wednesday, the Mongolian government announced the extension of visa-free entry for South Korean citizens, which will be in effect until the end of 2026 for short-term trips to the country.

This decision was made as part of the government's initiative to develop year-round tourism and a program called "Years of Visiting Mongolia," aimed at stimulating tourist flow and supporting the sector.

The economy of Mongolia currently heavily relies on the mining industry and the export of mineral resources, so the development of tourism is becoming an important direction for its diversification and increasing competitiveness on the international stage.

According to the Mongolian Tourism Organization, in 2025, the country was visited by 851,931 foreign tourists, which is a 5% increase compared to the previous year.

As part of the tourism support strategy titled "Go Mongolia!", the government plans to attract 2 million foreign visitors by 2028.

Mongolia is attracting more and more South Korean tourists with its unique natural landscapes.

“I was impressed by Mongolia's stunning nature and exoticism, especially the starry sky,” shared her impressions Kim Eun-bi, a 27-year-old office worker who recently visited the country in the summer. “The sight of herds of cows, sheep, and camels moving along the road was an inspiring experience.”
