On this day, Mongolia celebrates both the day of gaining national freedom and the day of establishing its diplomatic service.

“The British Embassy congratulates the people of Mongolia on the 114th anniversary of the restoration of independence,” said Ambassador Fiona Blight.

On December 29, 1911, the day of the winter solstice, the Mongolian people declared the beginning of the Mongolian Revolution of 1911, which ended the two-hundred-year rule of the Manchu Qing dynasty in Mongolia.

During this revolution, the Mongols proclaimed the VIII Bogd Khan as the supreme ruler of the state and religion, handing him symbols of power such as the state seal and flag, and established a government with five ministries, thus founding the independent Bogd Khanate.

The National Revolution of 1911, which marked the beginning of the Mongolian people's independence from the Manchu Qing dynasty, is an important event in Mongolia's history that should be remembered by future generations.

This revolution symbolized the long-standing efforts of the Mongolian people in their struggle for independence and laid the foundation for the awakening of national consciousness and the People's Revolution of Mongolia.

Although this day was not celebrated during the years of socialism, a law passed by parliament on August 16, 2007, established December 29 as a national holiday, and then in 2011 it was officially proclaimed as the Day of Restoration of National Freedom and Independence, which is celebrated throughout the country.
