According to information from the Ministry of Justice of South Korea, as of August, the number of foreign students studying at universities in the country reached a record 305,000, which is 50,000 more compared to the previous year.

In April of last year, the Ministry of Education reported 253,000 foreign students, and just four months later, the Ministry of Justice noted that the increase in the number of students is largely due to the rise in the number of Vietnamese students studying the Korean language.

When considering foreign students by nationality, the largest share is held by Chinese students at 34.5%, followed by Vietnamese at 26.8%, Mongolians at 5.9%, and Uzbeks at 5.8%.

According to the South Korean Ministry of Justice, there are 17,870 students from Mongolia studying in the country, which corresponds to the number of students at the National University of Mongolia.

It is interesting to note that about 56,000 citizens of Mongolia live in South Korea, of which more than 17,000 are in the country illegally or violating visa conditions. 15% of them live with families.
