The Department of Tourism of the Philippines welcomes a charter flight from Mongolia.

The Philippines is opening a new limited route to enter the Mongolian market.

The arrival of the first charter flight from Mongolia is an important step for the Department of Tourism of the Philippines, providing access to a new niche in Central Asia.

The charter flight of Hunnu Air, carrying 126 passengers, mostly Mongolian citizens, landed at Terminal 1 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 7:20 AM on December 26.

This flight became the first direct air connection between Mongolia and the Philippines, providing faster communication compared to traditional routes through third countries.

This initiative was launched during the winter season in Mongolia, when many citizens seek warm places for vacation.

The absence of direct flights created difficulties for Mongolian tourists, including long travel times and additional visa requirements for transit points, which reduced the competitiveness of the Philippines in the market.

Tourism Minister Kristina Garcia Frasco
Kristina Garcia Frasco, the Secretary of Tourism, noted that the launch of the charter flight aligns with the government's strategy to diversify tourist flows and improve international air connectivity to support the growth of the tourism sector.

Successful execution of the flight involved coordination among various government agencies and stakeholders in the tourism industry.
