As the band reported on Twitter, his passing is a great loss for fans and loved ones.
He said at the time: "A few weeks ago, I felt unwell, and after an examination, I was diagnosed with 'clear cell renal cell carcinoma with metastases to the lungs.' This is stage four, and it's not encouraging" (quote from Variety).
Despite the severe diagnosis, the musician showed no fear but regrettably canceled the band's upcoming concerts.
3 Doors Down was founded by Arnold in 1996 along with guitarist Matt Roberts and bassist Todd Harrell. In the early days, he performed not only vocal parts but also played the drums. In 1997, they recorded their first demo, which included the famous song Kryptonite, written by Arnold during his school years.
This composition, later re-recorded, became part of their debut album The Better Life, released in 2000, and reached third place on the Billboard Hot 100. Since the release of the album Away from the Sun, Arnold has performed exclusively as a vocalist.
