Elon Musk, the American billionaire, announced that his company SpaceX has shifted its priorities, focusing on the creation of a self-sustaining city on the Moon. He assures that this project can be realized in less than ten years, while a similar project on Mars will take more than 20 years, as reported by Kazinform.
“Our main priority is to ensure the future of civilization, and the Moon represents a faster path to this goal. Traveling to Mars is only possible when the planets align every 26 months, whereas we can send missions to the Moon every 10 days,” he noted.
Additionally, Musk emphasized that SpaceX still plans to build a city on Mars, which is expected to begin in about five to seven years. Last May, he also claimed that the company is working on sending its first unmanned Starship to Mars by the end of 2026, as reported by CNN.
