
On February 9, 2026, in Paris, Nyamkhuu Ulambaayar, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Mongolia to France and Permanent Representative to UNESCO, met with the president of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), Teresa Patricio, and the Director General, Céline Noguès-Weber. ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) is an organization that plays an important role in the preservation and protection of cultural heritage and monuments. It is also involved in research activities and the development of standards and policies in this field. With consultative status at the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, ICOMOS evaluates sites proposed for inclusion on the World Heritage List and provides recommendations for their preservation.
During the meeting, Céline Noguès-Weber congratulated Mongolia on its first election to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and emphasized the importance of cooperation within the framework of the World Heritage Convention.
Nyamkhuu Ulambaayar, in turn, highlighted that Mongolia, as an active member of the Committee, adheres to a scientific approach based on factual data and research, and is actively committed to preserving its unique natural and cultural heritage.
She also expressed readiness for dialogue with member states and cooperation with organizations that have consultative status at the World Heritage Centre, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in this area.
