Trump Administration Sued Harvard

The U.S. Department of Justice stated in its announcement that Harvard has repeatedly delayed the process of providing the requested documents. These materials, according to the department, will help determine whether the university's admissions policy complies with the U.S. Supreme Court's 2023 decision, which deemed programs considering racial affiliation unconstitutional. Furthermore, the Department of Justice clarified that it does not accuse Harvard of discriminatory practices and does not demand any financial compensation or suspension of federal funding.
In early February, Donald Trump announced a demand for Harvard to pay $1 billion to resolve investigations related to its policies, but this request was rejected.
In April 2025, the U.S. government threatened to prohibit Harvard from admitting international students, citing the university's insufficient measures to address the harassment of Jewish students on campus, after the university refused to comply with Trump's demands.
Attempts by the Trump administration to suspend federal funding for the university faced legal obstacles, and the parties have not yet reached an agreement.
