Nissan recalls over 600,000 vehicles due to engine defects

The company Nissan has announced two large-scale recalls concerning 642,698 Nissan Rogue crossovers. The main reason for this action is potential issues with the transmission and engine that may cause a loss of power while driving, reported the Kazinform agency, citing CBS.

The first recall affects 323,917 vehicles from the 2023–2025 model years equipped with a three-cylinder 1.5-liter VC-Turbo turbo engine with variable compression ratio. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) warned of the risk of engine bearing failure, which could lead to oil leaks and even fires.

This recall is a continuation of a campaign that began last June, during which more than 480,000 vehicles were recalled, including Rogue, Infiniti, and Nissan Altima models. At that time, federal authorities noted manufacturing defects that could lead to sudden loss of traction and increase the risk of accidents.

The second recall concerns 318,781 Rogue crossovers from the 2024–2025 model years with a similar engine. As clarified by the NHTSA, in this case, there is a possibility of gear failure in the electronic throttle control unit, which also poses a risk of emergency situations.

Owners of the affected vehicles will receive notifications about free diagnostics and repairs, which will begin to be sent out on March 27, 2026.
